Should state lottery officials add Mega Millions to the Tennessee State Lottery?

The Tennessee Education Lottery Board of Directors on Monday approved adding Mega Millions, joining Powerball as the second mega-jackpot game in the lottery.

Mega Millions is now played in 12 states. State officials hope it will bring an additional $10 million to $15 million annually to education programs in Tennessee.

I have not seen anything good

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on November 3, 2009 - 2:47pm.
I have not seen anything good come from the lottery as far as the schools are concerned. There is a scholarship from it but nothing else i have seen. Why are the schools still having the coupon books, the cookie and candy sells, what else do they want our kids to go door to door and sell. Let us start funneling some of the lottery money to actually help our schools, mabye then they will get the boost they need to get better scores for our kids.

Paul Harvey wrote If I were the devil: "I would dupe entire states into relying on gambling for their state revenue." It appears Tennessee is going that direction.

Well, If I were the devil I would take away choice and educational opportunity. Who needs to go to college anyway? The trailer park is good enough for me and mine. I dont want none of my chitlins to do nuffin as long as their buts are in the pew every sunday.

I think the only one who has

I think the only one who has seen anything good from the lottery would be Rebecca Paul and I'm sure she has gained more than anyone from the lottery. I wish that I had never voted the lottery in so many people have lost everything from this and it's just like another form of crack or other deadly drugs. I will never vote for anything for the lottery!

Poppycock! The lottery is

Poppycock! The lottery is for fools and those who have more dollars than sense. I'm with Anonymous 247PM and Paul Harvey: can you show me ANYthing good (except possibly for making millionaires out of lottery managers) that the lotteries have done? Please dont compound the felony by adding more bait.

I have yet to buy a lottery

I have yet to buy a lottery ticket and probably never will either as contributing to the pursuit of empty foolishness. It was wrong to institute it and the best course of action would be to end it. Teaching an entire generation of citizens that either luck is how you make it or that you should not save your money but depend on others spending foolishly is both immoral and an undercutting of the values that make for a strong society.

Adding a new mega-game will

Submitted by Noe to Lotto! (not verified) on November 3, 2009 - 10:08pm.
Adding a new mega-game will simply entice more poor to the get-rich-quick scam that ends up being a behind-your-back tax on those who can least afford it. To help the economy, people need to spend money on things that help keep other people employed. I guess your lottery dollars do employ some, but I doubt they are the people who suffer the most from not having a job if they lost it. Tennessee, let's spend what money we do have on things that keep others employed! Not on more Lotto!

Why pose the question? If

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on November 4, 2009 - 11:09am.
Why pose the question? If the Lottery Board of Directors have voted to add Mega Millions to our lottery what difference does it make what the citizens of Tennessee have to say about it? By the way, the people who "work" for the lottery making these mega wages need to have their salary cut in half. Can you tell me exactly what they do to deserve that kind of money? You know who I am talking about. You and I know know people who could and would do a better job for less.

Here come the nanny Bible

Submitted by NotSurprised (not verified) on November 4, 2009 - 11:58pm.
Here come the nanny Bible thumpers out of the woodwork to condemn, condemn, condemn! Why can't you people just do your dirty work out in the open instead of acting all high and mighty all the time. If we could get an honest answer, we'd discover that most "Christians" gamble, drink and molest their kids, while warming the pews and looking down their noses at we the average folks who play our numbers every week and will actually do what the preachers preach.

i think adding mega millions

Submitted by yank (not verified) on November 6, 2009 - 8:56pm.
i think adding mega millions is a great idea although i would like to see reports on where exactly the money goes into education by the persons who oversee this program. i think with some positive reporting on this to the public, it might help change a few negitive minds on the matter.
